Aids is the leading cause of death in Thailand leaving over 500,000 aids orphans in its wake.
UNICEF sadly suggests that by the year 2010 possibly one out of three orphans in Thailand will have lost their Parents due to Aids.
Vieng Ping Children’s home is an enormous complex. Initially established as a baby care unit in 1986, it was extended to take in and care for orphaned and abandoned children in Northern Thailand in 1988.
The home also caters for children that have been HIV positive from birth, and was the first such orphanage in the country to take in children with this condition, and has since accepted children from across Thailand.

The older children go to Public school during the day, while the younger ones learn skills relevant to their age, play, eat and of course sleep. The children receive two nutritious meals a day plus two snacks.
The long term objective is to find suitable foster or adopted homes for the children, but in the meantime Vieng Ping endeavours to prepare the children medically and maternally for their future.
The funding from the Government never seems to be enough and the home relies on donations to provide those little extras that can make a child smile.
